The 2016 John Moores Painting Prize (China) adheres to the operating and organizational concepts of the John Moores Painting Prize (UK). The judging panel is comprised of three jurors from the UK and two from China, who together are the sole deciders on academic standards for the competition. This event will continue the focus of our UK partners on arts management, bringing outstanding Chinese artists to the 2016 Liverpool Biennial and exhibiting the works of UK prize winners, while also tirelessly working to establish a sales platform for painters. Building upon the success of the three previous competitions held in 2010, 2012 and 2014, we aim to create a new framework for continued exchanges between China and the UK in contemporary art and by doing so present new academic benchmarks and discourse in the study of this field.
